iSmithers the information business within Smithers Rapra has announced the fifth High Performance Elastomers conference, taking place in Aberdeen on 27-28 April 2010. 2010 will mark the first conference with a special focus on oilfield applications.
Over the years high performance polymeric solutions have evolved to support the hostile conditions and longer life expectations in both upstream and downstream environments. Designed to withstand extreme service temperature ranges and contact with harsh chemicals, oils and fluids, high performance elastomers and thermoplastics can be found in everything from subsea trees, well heads and umbilicals to piping and chemical processing plants.
However, tomorrow’s materials will need to withstand temperatures and pressures far higher than previously encountered in oil reserves in the quest for new oil sources. For this reason there must be continued research, development and qualification to reduce the need for costly intervention and respond to new challenges.
This conference is being developed for operators, contractors, equipment and component suppliers, material suppliers and research organisations involved with polymers and their use in oil and gas applications to share their experiences in this area. The conference represents an ideal platform to report your findings to an influential and informed audience.

Presenting authors at High Performance Elastomers & Polymers for Oil and Gas 2010 will be entitled to free registration on both days of the conference including lunches, refreshments and a copy of the proceedings.
