Smithers Rapra announce short course on Exploring Plastic Extrusion
26/05/2009
iSmithers the information business within Smithers Rapra has announced a short course on Exploring Plastics Extrusion to be held at Smithers Rapra on 30th June - 1st July. The course will be presented by John Colbert a principal consultant from the Smithers Rapra Consultancy Centre.
Quite often people gain their experience of the extrusion process 'on the job' meaning that even experienced operators don’t fully understand what is happening to the material inside the extruder and therefore how to make the process more efficient, or how to work with a new material .
This is where the ‘Exploring Plastics Extrusion’ course provided by John Colbert at Smithers Rapra is designed to help. During the 2 day course participants will explore what happens in the extruder at every stage of the process.
The knowledge gained will enable participants to:
- optimise throughput
- reduce downtime caused by unresolved problems
- improve troubleshooting techniques
- understand what is happening in the process and anticipate and avoid problems
- improve quality
- reduce scrap
Who is likely to benefit?
The course is suitable for process/production supervisors and managers; technical managers; quality control practitioners; technical/customers services personnel and others who wish to gain a more detailed understanding of the extrusion process and the factors that influence it.
Practical demonstrations are included, however the course will concentrate on giving participants a complete understanding of what is happening in the extruder at every stage of the process, thereby enabling them to optimise their own production processes, troubleshoot problems - and avoid them in the first place!
