Smithers Rapra, the independent rubber and plastic testing, research and consulting company, were delighted to host the China Rubber Industry Association on 10^th and 11^th December 2008 at their facilities based in Shropshire, UK.

The China Rubber Industry Association was founded in 1985, its aim is to reform and open up independent innovation and promote the scientific development of China’s rubber industry. There are in excess of 1,200 members with business activities covering tyres, rubber hoses and belts, latex products, rubber materials, institutes and Industries.

On the 10^th December the Chinese enjoyed an insight into the extensive testing and analytical capabilities Smithers Rapra provide and were able to discover the depth of expertise on offer. Various presentations were made which included Quality procedures and the importance of using accredited test laboratories.

On the 11^th December a representative selection of business from the UK were invited to make presentations to the delegation on their products and services. Companies in attendance included Bell Plastics, TRP Polymer Solutions, Bridon, Marbocote, Castle Chemicals and Thomas Swan. Over the course of the event the Chinese guests were provided with information on the depth of capabilities and products available to them from within the UK Rubber industry.

In his farewell speech Mr Ju Hong Zhen, honorary chairman of the China Rubber Industry Association said that he hoped the visit was the start of new business opportunities between companies in the UK and his Association.
